In any language, there are two kind of questions

W-Frage (W Questions):  When, where, how, etc

Ja-Nein Frage (Yes-No Question): Do you want to drink water?

Today we will discuss few W-Fragen

  • wo                          where?
  • woher                    from where?
  • wer                        who?
  • wann                     when?
  • wie                              how?
  • warum                       why?
  • was                            what?

1. Wo (Where)

  • Wo wohnen Sie?                    Where do you live?                         Ich wohne in Berlin.                   I live in Berlin.
  • Wo ist Lukas?                         Where is Lukas?                             Lukas ist zu Hause.                     Lukas is at home.
  • Wo ist mein Laptop?             Where is my laptop?                     Dein Laptop ist hier.                  Your laptop is here.
  • Wo ist Berlin?                         Where is Berlin?                            Berlin ist in Deutschland.         Berlin is in Germany.

2. Woher (From where)

  • Wohere kommen Sie?                             From where do you come?
  • Woher lernen Sie Deutsch?                    From where do you learn German?

3. Wer (who)

  • Wer sind Sie?/ Wer bist du?                 Who are you?
  • Wer ist dein Bruder?                              Who is your brother?
  • Wer ist deine Schwester?                       Who is your sister?

4. Wann (When)

  • Wann gehen Sie?                                      When do you go?
  • Wann kommen Sie?                                 When do you come?
  • Wann ist das Oktoberfest?                      When is the October fest?

5. Wie (how)

  • Wie heißen Sie?                                       How are you called?
  • Wie ist das Wetter?                                 How is the weather?
  • Wie geht es?                                              How are you?

6. Warum (Why)

  • Warum lernen Sie Deutsch?                 Why do you learn German?
  • Warum kochen Sie?                               Why do you cook?

6. Was (What)

  • Was ist das?                                              What is this?
  • Was sehen Sie?                                        What do you see?
  • Was essen Sie?                                         What do you eat?
